Sabine Baring Gould
(1834 -- 1924)
S. Baring-Gould Was an English writer and scholar. He was also an Anglican Priest and although he is probably best remembered for writing the hymns Onward Christian Soldiers and Now the Day is Over,  Baring-Gould was a prolific writer whose bibliography consists of over 1,200 publications.

His non-fiction  work The Book of Were-Wolves was first published in 1865, by Smith, Elder & Co., London. Frequently cited, it was also the first serious academic study of lycanthropy.
