A Passion for Horror is Now Using Gutenberg Blocks
12 March 2026
Yesterday, I made a slight change to the site. Moving with the times, I decided to use Gutenberg Blocks instead of the classic editor. Introduced in December 2018, the block editor has become the default way to add content to WordPress websites. However, like a lot of people, I was happy with the old way of doing things and didn’t want to have to learn how to use Gutenberg blocks, so I installed a plug-in that overrode the block editor, allowing me to keep things “old school”.
Thanks to a course I’ve been doing, I have now learned how the editor works, and can see a number of advantages, so I’ve disabled and removed the Classic Editor plugin. In all honesty, in some ways adding the content has become a little harder, and the process still feels a little strange to me, but this is a big site. It has a lot of pages and I keep adding more. At some point in the future, the plug-in I was using may be retired, so I figured I’d rather switch now in an effort to save myself work in the future.
As far as I can tell, everything is working fine, and the switch has not interfered with the front end of the site. However, if anyone experiences any issues while visiting A Passion for Horror, I’d appreciate it if they let me know via the site contact form or the comments section below. I want to provide the best visitor experience I can, and will remedy any problems as quickly as possible.
